73s Change Hands – Bob Thompson Takes Over The Reins

The CCHL Board of Governors has unanimously approved the transfer of the Kemptville 73's Hockey Club from Paul Brenton to Bob Thompson.
Brenton purchased an expansion franchise five seasons ago and was responsible for bringing Junior A hockey to North Grenville. Notable graduates include Calvin deHaan, who was the teams first overall draft selection, who went on to represent Canada at the World Junior Championships and become a first round NHL selection of the New York Islanders.

Thompson is a long time hockey executive with the Ottawa Valley Titans and more recently with the 73's, whose son Shayne played five seasons in the CCHL with Kanata and Brockville before accepting an NCAA Division I hockey scholarship at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, where he is entering his junior year.
The CCHL wish

es to thank the Brenton family for their contributions and welcome the Thompsons to the league.

The CCHL hosts its annual Prospects Camp from May 25-27 at Bell Sensplex and its annual draft on May 31 at Gloucester's Earl Armstrong Arena.
