SAGINAW — This year's Saginaw Spirit training camp will be a bit smaller than previous camps.

And the Spirit coaches and management hope that allows them to better evaluate the players on the ice.

This year's training camp, which starts this week in Saginaw, will include 33 players — down from upwards of 40 players in recent years.
On defense, the Spirit return six players from last year's playoff roster — the only loss being Saginaw-native Brad Walch, who aged out of the league and is moving on to professional hockey with the ECHL's Reading Royals.

The Spirit drafted a defenseman, Brandon Prophet, in the second round, 32nd overall in this year's OHL Draft.
